The Spirit of St Patrick Award

One of the things we hope to introduce across our celebrations on March 17th is another way to recognize and honour those who are offering significant service and contribution to the building of healthy community in our local areas.

At local parades each year, and later we hope at a national and international level, we would like to sponsor a Spirit of Saint Patrick Award that will be presented both at our Saint Patrick Breakfast and at our local parade.

The annually presented local trophy, created by Mullingar Pewter, consists of a beautifully detailed statue of St Patrick mounted on a Walnut base and engraved with the winner’s name.

Last year we were delighted that the Deputy Mayor of Kildare, Councilor Brendan Weld was able to join us to present our first Maynooth award. It went to Maynooth Tidy Towns, a group that have served Maynooth over many years and whose efforts have led to a wonderful visual as well as community atmosphere in the town.
